RFVC115
The course RFVC115 Pumping and Practice has been developed to provide QFES members with the knowledge and skills to undertake a range of pump operations, including water supply, draughting and foam operations.

Introduction:

The pump operator's task is to operate the pump and appliance to provide the required amount of water requested by the branch operator, often by hand signals. It is also the pump operator's responsibility to monitor water usage and warn when supplies are getting low.

In many scenarios, firefighters place their lives in the hands of the pump operator. 

When a fault occurs, or the water supply is lost, the ability, knowledge and fault-finding skills of a pump operator may be the difference between life and death for the crew.

Target Audience:

Rural Fire Service Staff and Volunteers

  • operate a pump to deliver water and/or foam to the branch
  • conclude pump operations
