RFVC105 Equipment and Safety

RFVC105
The course RFVC105 Equipment and Safety has been developed to provide Rural Fire Service (RFS) members with the knowledge, skills and information that is specifically relevant to the QFES workplace, where personnel are required to be involved in incidents, prescribed burns and operational aspects of emergency management.

The course includes identifying, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of workplace hazards and risk control procedures. Learners will also gain the skills and knowledge required to inspect, maintain, test and restow a range of equipment.

Introduction:

Firefighters perform physically demanding work, encompassing multiple fire ground tasks where there is a high risk of exposure to hazardous substances. Hazards present in our everyday environment can constitute risks to those who encounter them. Interaction with a hazard can potentially lead to injury.

Each year thousands of volunteer firefighters battle bushfires in all parts of Queensland. Like all other emergency service organisations, the safety of our personnel is fundamentally coupled to the effective preparation, maintenance and testing of response equipment.

This course will provide you with an introduction to safe work practices.
